LifeFellowship

God created man for fellowship and made him in His own image and likeness, so he would be capable of understanding and enjoying God, entering into His will, and delighting in His glory. Because God is everywhere-present, man could have lived in the enjoyment of this unbroken fellowship. Sin robbed us of this fellowship.

Christ came to restore this fellowship; to bring man, His lost creature, back to God and to bring him back to all he was created for. Fellowship with God is the consummation of all blessedness on earth as it is in heaven. It is the living interchange of giving Him your love, your heart, and your life, and receiving from God His love, His life and His Spirit.

Fellowship, “koinonia” in Greek means, shared life, intimacy, intercourse, participation, sharing in common. It is an intimate word – union. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him”.

Fellowship is the issue of eternal life and is actually the flow of the eternal life within all the believers who have received and possess the divine life. It is carried on by the Holy Spirit in our regenerated spirit. It is in this fellowship of the eternal life that we, the believers participate in all that the Father and the Son are and have done for us. That is, we enjoy the love of the Father, and the grace of the Son by virtue of the fellowship of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Corinthians1:9).

This is every Christian’s calling. God the Father has called you and me into the fellowship of Christ, to partake of the fellowship of the union with God’s Son, that we may enjoy Christ as our God-given portion.

When we believe and receive Him, He comes into us as the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45) and gives us eternal life. Thus we are regenerated to become the children of God. Whosoever is regenerated with the life of God to be a child of God has eternal life inside him and this life brings fellowship. We should concentrate on Him and not on any persons, things or matters. We should focus on Him as our unique centre appointed by God.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life -- the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us --that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1-3).

The apostles saw and heard the eternal life. Then they reported it to the believers so that the believers also might hear and see it. By virtue of the eternal life, the apostles enjoyed fellowship with the Father and with His Son. They desired that the believers also enjoy this fellowship.

The apostles, standing in front of three thousand new believers, told them of their own experience with the Lord who had been physically present with them and who was now in them; living daily by His life, hearing Him inside, sensing Him, loving Him, beholding Him, and most of all . . .fellowshipping with Him . . . within.

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life . . . And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5: 11-12, 20).

To be in the true God is to be in His Son Jesus Christ, who is Eternal Life. Since Jesus Christ as the Son of God is the embodiment of God (Colossians 2:9), to be in Him is to be in the true God. He is eternal life to us that we may partake of Him as everything to our regenerated being.

A living indwelling Lord is the “something” we have that no other religion on earth can offer. Jesus Christ offers access to a personal fellowship with God. The greatest hindrance to fellowship is anything that keeps the soul occupied instead of leading to God Himself.
